Who is this course for?

This course is suitable for anyone who wants to develop the skills of a Stage/Show Producer.

This production professional has a helicopter overview of a stage event and leads the wider production team in making it happen on time and to the highest standards. It is up to the Producer to ensure all aspects of the conference or entertainment stage will work for the audience as well as meeting the needs of the client and other stakeholders.

You may already be stage managing and want to take on more responsibility, or a company may want to grow in-house expertise as a way of supporting and expanding their business – if so this course is for you.

More Details

We’ll be focusing on the stage elements of a conference or show and how you can ensure your audience, client and team leave the venue feeling they’ve had a great time and that it’s all been worthwhile.  By taking a 360 degree view of an event, from audience to artist, sound to sightlines, we will begin to understand how important every aspect is to the success of a stage event and why the Producer role matters.  Along the way we’ll realise that a Producer is not alone! They have other wonderful professionals they can involve creatively.

During the day we’ll evaluate the areas of expertise participants already have that will benefit them in the Producer’s role. We’ll also think about any areas that might need extra development, and explore ways of getting extra experience and support after the course.

Course Overview

  • Define the role and remit of the Stage/ Show Producer for a conference or entertainment stage (depending on the group’s priorities).

  • Design a basic stage running order/show flow for a conference and an entertainment event – how to keep your audience engaged.

  • Design a detailed running order/show flow for a conference keynote and a panel session or entertainment show, including a 360 degree interrogation of pre-preparation, artist liaison and stage management.

  • Think about how to budget for success – what are the priorities?

  • Understand the importance of the team and communication.

Course Requirements

  • Experience of working on events: conferences or entertainment shows – preferably with some kind of management or marketing responsibility. E.g. Artist Liaison, Head of Comms, Stage Manager, Production Manager, H&S lead.

Prices start at £500 for a group per day. Individual prices are negotiable.

How to Stage Manage a Music or Event Stage - 1 day

Who is this course for?

This course is suitable for anyone who wants to develop the skills of a Stage Manager for a conference or music stage.

You may already have some experience of stage managing but want to consolidate and improve your skills, or a company may want to grow in-house expertise as a way of supporting and expanding their business – if so this course is for you.

More details

The role of the Stage Manager is often underestimated or even left off the staffing list and given to a member of staff with little experience.  But a good Stage Manager is worth so much when it comes to the audience experience, who expect slick junctions between speakers or acts. Clients and producers also want to feel confident that a stage will run to time, with the technical side of things rehearsed and managed and their guests looked after properly. That’s where the Stage Manager is invaluable.

This course will enable you to learn best practice in preparing for and managing event stages such as a conference or music stage. Theatre stage management uses very similar skills and many of the best event stage managers come from a theatre background, but, please note. this course is specifically designed for people wanting to manage event or music stages.

Course Requirements

  • Experience of working on events such as conferences or entertainment shows; preferably with some experience of getting people on and off stage, artist liaison or PR/Marketing. But this is not essential.

Prices start at £500 for a group per day.  Individual prices are negotiable.

Who is this course for?

This course is suitable for anyone who may be responsible for contributors or artists behind the scenes at a conference or entertainment show.

You may already have some experience of Artist Liaison but want to consolidate and improve your skills, or a company may want to grow in-house expertise as a way of supporting and expanding their business – if so this course is for you.

More Details

Most people understand the importance of getting an artist or contributor to stage on time, but the role of Artist Liaison is so much more than that.  From the very first contact it needs to be right and the Artist needs to know you’re on the case.  From the management of the artist’s arrival at a venue to their Green Room facilities, their handover to the Stage Manager for the show to the way they leave the venue; all these aspects could make a big difference to an artist’s performance and the way they view the event or company you work for.

And, when people are nervous or unhappy things don’t always go as planned. We’ll look at ways of managing these tricky situations.

Course requirements

  • Not essential but useful: Experience of being involved in some capacity at a stage event – possibly in an Artist Liaison role, or even as a presenter or artist. You may have volunteered on stages, or be Head of Comms – the skills and requirements are the same.

Prices start at £350 for a group per half day.  Individual prices are negotiable.

More Details

There are many occasions nowadays when people are expected to be confident in front of an audience; giving a powerpoint presentation at a conference or hosting a meeting.  Even a video call can feel like a performance.   It makes some people nervous, others would like to do more; perhaps even host a big event.

Whether you’ve already done some presenting or are a beginner we will look at which aspects you enjoy, which you find daunting and work on increasing all round confidence.

If you’ve ever stared out at a sea of expressionless faces willing them to smile we’ll look at the factors that contribute to a great performance, how to get the audience on your side and keep them engaged.

You’ll get one to one feedback and advice on how to grow your skills and experience.
